Growing Tips

🌤️ the Giant Bird of Paradise need very bright light and direct sun is also preferred to thrive and continue to push out tall large leaves

🏠  Birds of Paradise do best placed directly in front of floor to ceiling windows - if this plant isnt getting it’s lighting needs met it can become susceptible to pests as its ability weakens to fight off heavy loads of pest

💦  if you are giving this plant the light it needs, it will be thirsty, it will be using lots of energy from the sun and the warmth will also be drying up the water that you give it.  Be sure you are giving it a healthy drink of water once per week and maybe every 5 days when it is warm.  Check the soil often when you know it is exceptionally hot just to be sure you are giving it the water it needs. When you check to soil it shouldn’t really ever feel bone dry. If it feels bone dry you need to increase the quantity of water or frequency.

TIP #1  When watering always keep in mind the season, how much light it is receiving, and temperature of your home.  You will need to adjust with regards to these environmental factors.

TIP #2  Use some sort of way to measure the amount of water you are giving your plant so that you know how much to increase or decrease next time if needed.

TIP #3  Water your plants in place with a saucer under them.  This allows your plant a chance to soak up the water.  After a couple hours if there is still water in the saucer you can dump this out and this will also tell you how much water you can cut back next time.

TIP #4  Try to water on a weekly basis, this will help to keep you consistent and to at least check on your plants once a week.
